Hi All, A friend of mine is running Vista Basic and is trying to remove AOL emails from the pc.but has failed and has asked for help. AOL is not shown in the control panel to allow it to be deleted from the system but the emails still get through. Is there some way whereby these emails can be stopped and AOL removed from the system forever? Many thanks for any assistance.

First off the Files for AOL are in the Progam files Folder labeled AOL VR or AOL Maybe a few if there has been a few install attempts They'll be labelled AOL 9 VRa ect. They can be deleted and CCleaner run to clear the "Tail ends' (On the Registry Cleaner too) Though the Uninstaller(see end of the post) may appear on its add remove list ...delete all AOL entries off the Startup editor list on this Program then re-run the Cleaner/s
Option 2 open the Windows Folder and there may be an AOL Icon here? if so, click it and the Uninstall/Install wizard should start .If you can do this then CCleaner will dispose of the remains If the AOL Mail toolbar is present then look in Add remove(Control panel) for AOL Toolbar (with Browser name) FYI The AOL Program Installer is the Next Item down (To remove AOL Too ) The Label has been misleading for several years.
