so when you buy anew laptop it comes all ready loaded with aload of microsoft programs how do you reload them if you have to clear your pc because of avirus? didnt you used to get discs with them on
Microsoft’s policy is that a system with Windows pre-installed must have a means of being reinstalled. This can take the form of a recovery partition, a recovery CD (DVD post XP) or a full version DVD with driver and application disks, which are manufacturer specific. Some manufacturers go one better and supply a full set of disks and a recovery partition. A recovery partition is quicker to reinstall as software and hardware, e.g. burning software, webcam, et al, doesn’t have to be installed from the disks.
thanks for the information but im not sure still what to do if i needed to reinstall do i just buy the dvd ? when i bought the laptop i didnt get any way of reinstalling the programs already loaded.
As you don’t have a Vista DVD you can download and create a Recovery Disk x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) here http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ After downloading the ISO image to your hard disk, burn it to a CD (a DVD is not necessary as the x86 (32-bit) version is 120MB and the x64 (64-bit) version is 148MB).
It cannot install Vista but it repairs an installation in the same way as the Vista DVD does.
EDIT. I've just reread the details and you can create your own recovery disk. Read the whole page.
