taka a look at this site and notice that when the cursor hand passes over the links, a band of colour passes over them.
This looks good and is something i would like for my web site (still in the design stage)

It's being done with javascript, but because you can't really just pinch it (easily done), I suggest you look at javascript sites to find a similar script.
