Hi
I am trying to learn HTML and may need to use a hash symbol, but there is not one on my keyboard
How do I go about it
I'm sure if I really had to, I could open a word document, insert a symbol, there's probably one there, then copy and paste it... but surely there should be an easier way than that
thanks !

You could try Alt+35. Just hold down the Alt key, type 35 on the numberpad and you get #.

Alternatively Shift +3 on the US Layout Keyboard gives you a # I like this layout (have always used it on a PC) The other difference is the @ & "" keys are swapped over The £ symbol which I don't use that often (as I'm on several forums abroad) I get that character from the Character Map Font pages or copy off a UK Webpage My Next computer will have the same Setup
PS The Hash "# "character on the UK keyboard is Located adjacent to the Return Key (Middle row furthest right) On the US Layout It shows as the thin Bar character | which is duplicated on the Shifted "Backwards slash" key "\" Either do not come into play often

Thanks Madeline, the Alt 35 works, but I notice only if the numbers from the side number pad are used (as you said)
Thanks too BedstorfromAP, my keyboard does have a # symbol after all. I’m hanging my head in shame, cos I couldn’t see it before

You're welcome wbmkk. At least you've now got a couple of ways to do # since you've found it on your keyboard!
