Opening ports
      #438749 - Sat Sep 19 2009 08:51 PM

Hi all.

First of all, I'm using a laptop on Windows Vista Home Premium, 32-bit.

I'm trying to use the Nokia Software Updater program (downloaded from the official Nokia website) to update the firmware on my mobile phone. Each time it gives me a configuration error.

Upon reading the prompted help, it seems to be a port problem. It asked me to run a program called 'FreePortScanner' and scan for the ports within the range 62700-62750, using IP address 127.0.0.1. It said if the default port was in use, to select another port within that range, using the command prompt program. However, on running the scan, all of the ports within the range specified are closed (with no mention of them being in use by something else).

How can I open one of these ports to enable this software to work?

I've done the necessary with my firewall, and even tried disabling my firewall for the duration of the firmware update with no luck. The firewall I'm using is Online Armor free edition.

Finally, I hope I've posted this in the right place.
