I have trawled through countless comparison sites and read many posts but still need that final push one way or another.
I have vented my annoyance of a naff connection speed of late: http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/438572/Main/435778/#Post438572
So wont repeat it all.
I am now simply bored with talking to a "technical adviser" that seemingly knows less than me AND can't quite understand my English. I have 4 months left with BT but am looking elsewhere for broadband. I am starting to get bored with my connection speed (Just under 2Mb) and am getting real tempted by Virgins new fiber optic deals.
I'm not too fussed about the TV bit but their phone and broadband deals are very tempting and I hear that the speeds are better with BT with the new cables.
Could someone give me their thoughts on this?
Thanks

If you're in a Virgin "cabled" area, then their Cable service will deliver the speed you pay for, unlike the "up to" speeds quoted for ADSL and frequently not achieved. I have Virgin's 10Mbps Cable service and I get 10Mbps.

Like MGMCC I pay for 10 and get 10 - very, very occasional dips but nothing drastic.
I would say with Virgin they have a weird approach to customer service. I was looking to move the phone away from Post Office, and called Virgin, but as an existing customer (despite the fact I wanted a new line and was willing to increase the TV package) they offered me nothing in the way of deals.
In fact on line it says one price but when I contacted them I was told that was for new customers - despite the fact I had followed the ALREADY WITH US? link.
So basic advice is get the deal as a new customer straight off. Get the money off, the best rates, because later they won't offer it.
The other big advantage of cable when swapping from phone broadband is no lengthy switch over - cancel the phone broadband when Virgin have fitted it - and the engineers are usually canny and will fit what you want, where you want within reason.

Thanks folks. I think I WILL go with them. the 10Meg is just too tempting. Plus I think I'm paying almost 30 quid a month for the BT BB but the Virgin one is about a tenner less and a hell of a lot faster!
The bt phone is cheaper and I dont watch tv really so I will go with their BB only
