Create a 3D morph person

I'm looking to create a 3d 'Morph' person the same as on the front cover of this months WebUser (Sept 2009).

I don't know the correct name for the image but it looks like Tony Harts plasticine friend 'morph'. Can someone let me know what the correct term for the figure is and where I can generate one.
