that article on broadband tax , how about the providers paying for upgrading/creating a rural network out of the obscene profits they are making ? This is a sore point for me as I live in a rural area and nobody is interested in providing us with adsl because they can't make a profit on our village.Pathetic.

I'm in the same position as you and I agree entirely with what you say. I don't see why anyone should pay this tax when the companies concerned make vast profits, mainly by ripping people off. I would be furious if I, or anyone else living in a rural area, was made to pay this tax. It would add insult to injury. I think we get enough insults from people who say, rather idiotically, that it's our fault for choosing to live where we do. It's true that we moved from a large town to the country, but that was almost 25 years ago and neither home computing nor broadband was an issue at that time.
