Does anyone who uses sky broadband ever get this popping up? i've only been using sky for a few months so not sure how common this is, i never get it during the day only late at night, but when it arrives with out any warning it kills off my connection for a period of time, then disappears.
i take it as just part of a maintenance/upgrade work being done but im not sure.

It seems to be suggesting that you have a wireless connection to your router which has no security such as WEP or WPA. Is that possible?

HI, greysts
Well this was one of the first things i did look for when i first set up my connection but didn't find anything, but i presumed i'm classed as being hardwired though?
as my router only goes direct to the phone line then comes off via ethernet cable to the cpu, with nothing else in between, also to note that norton network security map states that i'm all secure in this department so i have no idea now.

Unfortunately, you've blanked out the only useful clue as to what is prompting for a Username/Password. As it appears to be a Router issue rather than a Sky issue, there should be no reason for not showing it, particularly if it is a Local Area Network IP address.
Has the Router perhaps been configured to restrict access at certain times?

Hi, I am with Tiscali using a Linksys router with an ethernet connection and have just reset the router for the first time.Afterwards I kept seeing that 'Connect to Server 'screen and had difficulty getting it to accept a user name and password but I am now on line and I am not sure how.

xsonic, The screen that you show is the screen that I see when I follow the recommended proceedure of changeing the default password of the router for security reasons.

I think its popping up because youve never made yourself known to your router the username is admin & the password is sky if you key them in it will take you to the routers control panel, I would do this just to turn off the UPnP which as been known to slow the connection down & maybe set your own password while you are in there (then just click on log out).
