Vary rarely using IE7,I tried the other day, and on every site I try to visit I get the message "Sorry, content advisor will not allow you to visit this site". It then goes on to request a supervisor password, which I do not remember ever having. This is a new problem to me, so am wondering what to do next..?

I would suggest going to windows update and downloading I.E.8. It will solve the problem as well as maintaining the browsers security. While your doing your update it would also be wise to install SP3. You're pc is not up to date and it's important you keep it so.

Thank you for your response, however I was hoping to "cure" IE7, and not ditch it.
I`m happy with SP2 at the moment, with my limited knowledge of computers, if something is working OK, I tend to leave it be.
Thanks anyway.

The point of FF's reply was that your computer is at risk of contracting malware as it is running out-of-date software; in fact it may already have done so. Quote:

The problem is of course, that it ISN'T working OK and tying to mend something that is time expired is a bit pointless.

I do take your point, however I can`t help wondering why I read comments from members who, having installed IE8, then ask for advice on how to "get back up to speed" from IE7. As I normally use either Google or firefox, I`ll continue to do so, as it would appear my request for help re solving my IE7 problem is perhaps not reasonable.

I think greysts was probably referring to SP3 as originally suggested by FifeFlyer. I tend to be of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" persuasion myself EXCEPT when it comes to the security of my PC. My PC, running XP Home, was working fine with SP2, but I still got SP3 via Automatic Updates. And, guess what? My PC still works fine! I strongly urge you to get it.
As for your perfectly reasonable query about Internet Explorer, I like IE8 although, like you, I don't use IE much. As far as I know, IE7 is still supported by Microsoft, so I suppose you're OK with it, at least for now. Just be sure to get all high priority updates from Microsoft/Windows Update Eventually, you'd be well-advised to get IE8 for security reasons if nothing else!
Regarding your problem with Content Advisor, either go to Tools>Internet Options in IE7 or to Control Panel>Internet Options when you haven't got IE open. It doesn't matter whether you're on or off-line.Go to the Contents tab and the first thing there is Content Advisor. Hopefully, you'll be able to disable it from there.

Thank you Madeline, for your reply, and advice. I appreciate your help.
Have tried disabling the contents advisor, as you suggest, unfortunately to proceed I am still asked to provide the supervisor`s password, which I don`t recall ever having!

You're very welcome chevin. I'm glad to learn that you've solved your problem and thanks for letting us know. Can you say where you got your download from? It may help other people with the same problem who visit the forum without posting here.
Sorry to nag, but please give some thought to upgrading as mentioned previously!

Should have included details.. the download is "content advisor password remover v1.01" from Nirsoft. There are others available, this was the first and only one I tried. Your kindly "nagging" noted and appreciated!
