HI I'm looking for some simple photo e diting software that will allow me to quickly and easily crop and resize pictures, and if possible give simple effects. I've tried Picasa but really didn't like it - it kept wanting to organise my pictures and the way it opened photos was just too involved! An added complication is that my computer isn't really high spec: 1ghz processor, 1gb ram, XP home. Any suggestions gladly received!

If you want a simple, FREE photo editing suite then Picasa is the only real answer. I can't think of anything simpler than that. By the way, Picasa doesn't organise your pictures at all. It just scans the whole of your hard disk, finds all your photos and presents them to you in one place. The pictures are still in exactly the same directory and location on your hard disk as they always were.

I've been looking and found a free version of Professor Franklin's Instant Photo Effects, which does the job I want. Thanks for the advice.
