Hi

Just to let you know in advance that the Forums will be unavailable for a short time on Tuesday afternoon while we undergo important website maintenance.

Apologies for any inconvenience this will cause.

Thanks
Claire

Thanks for letting us know. It's not a time that I'm usually here, but just occasionally I'm on-line in the afternoon.

For now, you will only be able to display the Forums properly by changing your settings to the default option.

Please go into User Options at the top left, then under Main Configuration, select the Edit option next to "Display preferences, number of shown topics, languages, colors" .

Under "Which style sheet (skin) do you want to use for your display?", you will need to select "Always use default" and press Submit at the bottom of your page.

Sorry if you have a preferred colour scheme for the Forums but you will need to go with the default option for the time being to view the Forums effectively.

Looking good Claire. Job well done, by all concerned, I'd say.

Managed to get it to work in Firefox, but in Internet Explorer 8, I'm getting "Error 404: Page Not Found
The requested page does not exist on this server" in -->> every <<-- forum.

I've not changed any settings.

We'll have a look into it - could be a server issue. Bear with us!

Strange...

Once I changed the theme/skin setting to 'Default' I have no major issues in FF, IE, Opera or Chrome.

Forum 404 messages should be fixed now.

404 not fixed for me in both IE 8 or Firefox I'm afraid. Have accessed via Google on both and I'm logged in.

I'll come back later and hopefully return to my normal preferred display preference. Default is a bit iffy for these old eyes.

Have you tried clearing your cache? As the issues have been fixed.

I am afraid you will still have to use the default style sheet.

Thanks Claire, it was accessing via favorites in both browsers which was bringing up the 404 error. Deleting the old entries and renewing did the trick. Have also cleared the cache as you advised.

Claire, a couple of questions if I may. When I go an area looking at unread posts the unread count used to be in a different colour. Have we now lost that?

Second, whilst all the read posts are separated in boxes the unread all seem to be bunched together. Is that right or do I need to change something?

I suspect the number colouring is as it is, for now. Other forums I'm on that have had a similar facelift are the same.

The second issue is a curiosity, and one I'm sure Claire will report. That isn't something akin to the other forums.

I dare say there will be one or two glitches to be ironed out in due course, but in the main I think it's been a relatively smooth transition.

It all looks pretty good to me and is working well.

Thanks to everyone who must have worked very hard to update the forums. So this is what you meant by "important website maintenance"!
