Internet explorer --> iexplore.exe is not a valid Win32-application
      #437436 - Mon Aug 24 2009 08:31 AM

My daughter had problems with her DELL Inspiron 1521 Laptop with Vista (32) after being forced to make some Windows update. In the end errors like rundll32 does not exist popped up. I managed to go back to a restore point and got the machine back to work again. However IE does not work. It comes with: C\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe is not a valid WIN32-Application. I do have a network connection and installed Firefox which runs fine. I tried to install IE8 but that failed with an 0x8004100a error message. I tried to install Vista (32) SP2 but that failed as well. Tried to install some DELL drivers for WLAN and Bluetooth, but again it failed. Any idea where to look? I had installed AVG (Free edition) which did not identified any Malware. Same for Spyboth. When trying to fix the win-update errors I de-installed AVG to avoid any clash with security issues
