Hi,

I'm not the world's greatest fan of IE (ok i hate it), but I have to say that it's not your pc that is at fault in this case, IE8 is slower than IE7 and you can't get rid of it.

You could try using another browser (firefox, chrome etc) to see how much faster than IE8 they are, but they will take a little getting used to, more akin to changing from one car manufacturer to another, you can still drive, you just need to learn that little quirks of the new car company.

As to spybot clashing with IE8, that is incorrect, I have both programs installed on my pc with no problems whatsoever.

hope this helps,

Ray

You may find both this page (1st question) and this kb article informative and useful. Both are from Microsoft.

I've never had any trouble with Spybot while running IE8, or any earlier version of IE for that matter.

Try another browser as Ray suggested, you may find one you really like. If not, you can always go back to IE! Firefox is very good and if you decide to try it, you can download it here from Mozilla which is the official site.

Hi my name’s Feran and I am working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help provide assistance to folks about their Internet Explorer.

If you’re having issues with your Internet running slow in IE8 you may be running too many add-ons. In IE, go to ‘tools’ and ‘manage add-ons’. Disabling any unnecessary add-ons may help your Internet run faster. Try disabling add-ons with more than a .2 sec load time.

Hope this helps,

Feran

Hey Feran,

puzzle this one out if you can, I have IE8 installed on my pc, with no addons of any type whatsovever, it is you could say "factory fresh" and yet is still loads my homepage, in this case google and any other page come that much slower than my default browser i.e Firefox and much slower than IE7.

1. Here are other ways to increase the browsing speed of Internet Explorer:
- Turn off 'RSS Feeds' by going to Internet Options > Content Tab > Feeds and Web Slices > Settings and uncheck Automatically check feeds for updates.
- In XP, go to Start > Run, type regsvr32 actxprxy.dll (note the space) and press Enter.
- In Vista and Windows 7, click the Windows Orb (Start) > Run (if the Run command is not there, go to All Programs > Accessories and then click Run), type regsvr32 actxprxy.dll (note the space) and press Enter.

2. Also, by changing these registry keys, all web pages will be displayed slightly quicker as the number of simultaneous downloads is increased. Create a system restore point before making the changes.

Click the Windows Orb (Start), type regedit, press Enter and navigate to registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings
Look for two keys in the right pane, MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server. If they exist, then right-click on each in turn and Modify the value to decimal 10 (hex a).

If the strings don't exist in the right pane, they will need to be added manually. To add the two keys, right-click in the white space in the right pane, select New > DWORD Value, type the first name as the string name, press Enter and then repeat the procedure for the second one. Now modify the values to decimal 10 (hex a).

As the registry key is a CURRENT_USER one, the change needs to be done for each user of the computer.

This is the second time that someone allegedly working for Microsoft has responded in this forum. I am also going ask you the same question as the previous person; how come your IP address is nothing to do with Microsoft? Unless you can convince me otherwise I will have to cancel your membership of this forum.

Ray,
If running with all add-ons disabled, you could try uninstalling then reinstalling IE8 – this has helped people with similar issues.

Greysts,
Not all business is conducted within the Microsoft Redmond campus. The part of the IE Outreach Team I work for is one of the departments not located on campus. If you need further information, I can direct message you my supervisors’ v-dash to verify our legitimacy.

Thanks and let me know if anyone has any other questions!

feranm_ie8team

There are many, many instances of your so called team out there, and many times you or your 'colleagues' have been challenged to prove the actual authenticity of the Outreach Team.
You are asked at some point if you can provide a URL to the team's web presence? At that point you disappear into thin air.

Perhaps you can on this occasion put the doubters minds at rest?
