Hi FifeFlyer,
My concern with cloud computing generally is that it is heading toward monthly subscription or some other means of extracting money from us. I am also concerned about the lack of user control and the Internet bandwidth issue. If every computer user went on the Internet at the same time now the whole thing would grind to a halt. Then there is the security issue itself associated with this type of computing particularly the reliability of storing your personal stuff on someones else's server etc.
Basically I know very little about this type of computing or its implications and I think a debate would be very interesting. So if you've started one well done.
Joe.

I've been watching this with a bit of interest recently, and trying to get my head around this product. There was a review/test of it on the first (?) public Beta release date here http://www.thetechherald.com/article.php/200918/3565/Review-Panda-Cloud-Antivirus?page=1
And I've been following it's progress (or raher discussions around it) on http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=240731
I'm still struggling to get my head around it/whether it'll be worth a go at some time in the future. Be interested to see how it develops, what independent testers like av-test.org make of it, and how you find it, Fifeflyer.

Joe , have to admit it's much the same for me , but I've always believed the best way to learn about something you don't know much about , is to experiment with it. In normal circumstances experimenting with your security is not a good idea , especially Beta versions , but in my case , on this pc , I've installed 2 operating systems on 2 separate hard drives. ( XP and Windows 7 ). As I'm using windows 7 more often than not I've decided to leave that as it's set up at present ( can't install the Panda option on it anyway as it's not compatible yet ) and use the Panda on XP. It means if things were to go disastrously wrong i would still have a usable computer. Now , as my wife prefers using XP ( she's not PC savvy and windows 7 bamboozles her ) , and she's not up to speed with what's safe or not , i expect Panda to get a good work out. As for your other observations , yes they're all valid and are things I'll certainly be looking in to. Most importantly is the question of "cost". I've never seen the need to pay to protect your pc so if they go down that road , then it's back to Avast.
Heidi , think this has some way to go yet , and like you , I'll be watching to see what the "more savvy geeks" out there think about it. In the meantime I'll keep tabs on how it performs and post back anything of interest. Thanks for the links by the way , looks like a lot of interesting reading, which I'm about to start perusing.

Will be interested in how you find it, FifeFlyer. YW, re the links. The wilderssecurity one is quite a read, and has Panda feedback into it.
