Microsoft Silverlight is a small Flash/shockwave/Java type Program (of just under 5 MB) used by some Media players and other programs to Display Streaming Graphics/ video/ 3D Media. In fact, the list goes on and on is a very versatile Program http://silverlight.net/ (examples and download here) Just accept the Basic download of Silverlight the other Downloads are for developers ect. They have released Version 3 on the 10th of July which is a full rewrite, the "Fix List" is very long This does not replace Flash Or the other Related Programs but complements them If this pure Silverlight video link( of Wimbledon) does not Play after installing Silverlight then read on. If using VISTA, Try it (Does it play?) and it may require an update of the Program below if it plays jerky? This is the same link if the other is corrupt http://tinyurl.com/s-light-ten-demo If the answer is No .You cannot see this or the Picture is choppy, then Install or Update The Microsoft .NET Framework tool which is about 150 MB have to use the Installer program to start the Download (straightforward) This installs into Windows So if it's a Dud run the "System Restore" program to remove. PS The Microsoft .NET Framework program Helps with downloads and File transfers(requires no maintenance) FYI It is included on Vista but not on XP! As for Windows 7 with it's bells and whistles. They are going to Use Version 4( of .NET Framework program) eventually I noted they say Silverlight will be used even more than at present with the Higher spec graphics Currently the Latest version is Version 3.5 SP1 PS It's worth also upgrading the Graphics card drivers too
This Page has all the up to date Drivers we have mentioned (bar Silverlight) Plus the appropiate graphic drivers to your ATI/Radeon & NVidia/GeForce Graphic cards http://filehippo.com/software/drivers/

I found that silverlight.net site you linked to a bit confusing and I couldn't see where to download the basic Silverlight from. I think the following site is easier to deal with, and it even tells you what version (if any) you already have installed.
