My local PC shop has replaced Comodo firewall (which I had previously installed having read positive comments in WU) with Filseclab as part of a cure for extended boot times. I think the problem was mainly Windows Index scanning which froze everything for 30 mins or more. The reasoning was that Comodo was too sophisticated for a relatively old low-tec machine such as mine: AMD Sempron Processor 2800+, 1.60 Ghz 448 MB RAM, 55 GB hard disk, using Windows XP Home. Avast anti virus. Filseclab seems to be open source and of Chinese / Taiwanese origin. Compared with Comodo the appearance is not so flash but that is not the point. I have never read any reference to or recommendation of Filseclab in WU and am eager to know how it compares with alternative firewalls. The criterium of suitability for low spec PC's does not normally seem to figure in the ratings, may be it should. I have read that Zone Alarm "hogs resources" but nothing on these lines re Comodo. Can anyone offer me any reassurance re the effectiveness of Filseclab and if it is indeed to be preferred for low spec PC's? Is a firewall a firewall? I found some (favourable) mention of Filseclab in surprisingly similar circs within the Forum correspondence but that was some years back and things may have moved on since. Tks

Tks for the reassurance! I wasn't aware that there was a Cnet forum - must look it up. Pity therefore that Filseclab doesn't seem to have featured at all in Webuser, unless I have missed it, but I suppose they can't cover everything.
I would like to check out sometime if there is any truth in the view that Comodo is not suitable for low spec PC's. May be one of the WU gurus might take note if they read this!
