Go into the router's wireless settings by connecting to it by ethernet cable, not wirelessly, type its IP address into your web browser and then set up a new WEP or WPA encryption key.

Remove any existing wireless profiles in the computers that connect wirelessly CLICK HERE and go through the procedure to "Connect" again. You will be prompted to enter the new encryption key and, once connected, a new profile will be saved.

Thanks for your reply
When you say connect via the ethernet cable do you mean to do this on the laptop or have I to start from scratch on the desktop and reset everything

Connect to the router by ethernet cable from any computer. It is simply to get into its settings to change the WEP or WPA encryption key. You cannot do this with a wireless connection, because the connection will crash as soon as you save any changes to the wireless settings.

If the desktop PC connects by ethernet cable anyway, using it to alter the wireless settings in the router won't make any difference to its own ability to connect to the router or the internet.

if I can just tell you what I did to see if it makes any sense I changed the enc code on the desktop pc then I eventually found a list on the laptop to delete the profile but then it connected on the profile I had deleted? it really is a bit over my head I will have to give over meddling,
Thanks again for your help and advice
Tony
