I recently got a dongle from Orange, which I plug into my laptop to access the internet. The dongle gives me 3GB a month. Obviously, if I go over this limit then I'll end up paying extra... which I don't want.
Now, I can access 'Orange Mobile Partner' -- I'll post a pic of it below --which shows me a bunch of info about the dongle and data being downloaded/used/whatever. I think I understand it but I'd like to make sure I have it right!
On the left it gives me some statistics. Is 'Downloaded data' how much I've used up so far? Or does 'Downloaded data' AND 'Uploaded data' count for how much I've used up so far? Or do I have it completely wrong? :/ Thanks for any help in advance, and I hope I made sense!

Your 3 Gigabytes per month allowance is for data transferred, which includes both downloaded and uploaded traffic.
Also, there are many things you may not be aware of that involve "uploading" data, for example the process of logging into your mailbox to check for new mail, the many programs in the computer which automatically and regularly check for updates etc.
