Blank page
      #431727 - Wed Jun 03 2009 10:01 AM

This is someone else's problem, reported to me as owner of the website he can't access. As he is the only one who has ever reported the problem, and as the site worked for him until recently, I have to assume that something has changed at his end of the link. But oddly it seems to be only my site that causes the problem behaviour. He tells me he has uninstalled IE8, so I'm guessing that something may have changed in his settings in the process of MS Vista updates installing IE8 and then him uninstalling it.

When he tries to access my site IE7 returns a blank page with the correct address in the address bar and "Done". No content is displayed. Is there a setting somewhere in IE7 that is likely to cause this sort of behaviour? I can't find one that replicates it. The URL he is trying to access works fine in IE7 on my XP laptop, in fact that's what I use to initially design and test the website, which has nothing unusual - a bit of css, php/MySQL, an image window display javascript and lots of photos.

As he has deliberately uninstalled IE8, any suggestion that the answer would be to install IE8 is not going to be welcomed!

Thanks

Gatwick

Get the person with the problem to make sure he's cleared out the "Temporary Internet Files" folder, as cached files might be contributing to the problem.

Thanks. Sorry for delay, I was expecting e-mail notification if anyone answered as happens on the other forums I'm subscribed to!

This user is not very internet-savvy, or even PC-savvy, so I'll try sending hime a click-by-click set of instructions. It's very difficult communicating with him as he just doesn't speak the same language. But as he has contributed material for the website, he has to be a special case.
