Hi - I run a website which has just been featured in the magazine (Issue 62) called Westie-World. It is dedicated to the West Highland White Terrier breed of dog. Although it was not to Peter Cope's personal taste, I am eager to get some honest "punter" feedback about the design of the site and particularly how it views through different screen sizes and resolutions - the magazine's screenshots were horrendous!
It was launched on 7th. June, 2002, and the Archway (entry) page is at http://www.westie-world.co.uk/index.htm. By clicking on the central Enter button, you should then find that a 'filled screen' fullscreen window opens. From there, navigation is fairly simple, with clearly marked text buttons.

sorry that dog barking was doing my head in, that really would put you off looking around the site, otherwise it looked alright.
if i had known i would live this long, i would have taken better care of myself.

As a fellow westie lover I'd like to see your site develop: there's lots of potential there. I hope this is of use: strip the homepage down: it's very slow loading and you'll lose lots of visitors who won't patiently wait for it to load. Please do listen to everyone and get rid of the barking dog!! It's horrible, annoying will lose you even more visitors and gives the impression that all Westies are noisy! The clock really is unnecessary as is the music (which just gives me sensory overload when combined with the dog!). A homepage should be a great introduction to a site you want to explore. I'm afraid I gave up trying to enter your site as the dog grated me so much!!

Thanks guys - I will listen to you both and act on it. The barking Westie gets it!

Some frantic editing and FTPing has gone on - the results are there at the entry page now if anyone wants to confirm improved loading time (even I found it faster on my machine!).
Thanks for the input, chaps.

I'm not sure quite what to say, apart from echo the sentiments of the review in WU! Glad the barking has gone now though.

Thanks Lanny. I have been further modifying the design of the site lately - the colour brown is not an inspiring colour, so that has been changed, along with some work to simplify my links page. I hope to gradually bring the site in line with feedback received from yourselves and (to some extent) Peter Cope of WebUser. Thanks once again to all who have left constructive comments, both here and in the site guestbooks.
