I have been offered a free 12 month subscription to Kaspersky internet security 2009. What advantage (other than having everything in one place for updates and scans etc.) can this give over my present free programs that seem to do the job well and coexist well together ?
Running XP with free versions of the following, Spybot s&d, Spyware Blaster, Malware Bytes, Super antispyware, Avast Antispyware, and Zone Alarm.
Also if the advice is to go for Kaspersky what free progs should be thrown out ?

I gave kaspersky internet security a go,it was offered free from my bank.it totally screwed up my laptop,it slowed to a snails pace, often froze, web pages either froze or didnt load.many blue screens.i uninstalled and reinstalled avast.avast gets my thumbs up and i wouldnt touch kis again.
give it a go as it has a good reputation, you can always uninstall and reinstall avast if its not to your taste

My bank recommends Kaspersky Internet Security and lets you have a 30 day free trial of the program, although I think that Kaspersky may offer that too. Customers can also get KIS for £14.99 (1 PC) or £18.99 for 3 PCs. These prices are for 1 year and rise to £24.99 and £34.99 respectively for 2 years, so not free but a lot cheaper than Kaspersky's own prices. I won't be using KIS as I'm more than satisfied with my current program. If you're happy with what you've got, I can't see any advantage in changing.

Barclays currently offers KIS free for one year to its internet banking customers. It installs as a 30 day trial, and then KIS send you a registration code valid for 12 months after checking with barclays.
I feel I am going pass on this offer as my existing security is working well. Avast is particularly good, it auto updates frequently, often twice in a day. Zone alarm I have used for years, again with no problems (Note I have not had the problem with ZA not recognizing "tinyurl" as mentioned on Page 18 of Webuser Magazine

It's good that banks are getting involved more in Internet security these days. They certainly seem to be keen on KIS.
