In opening my Yahoo page and email I was tempted by a Yahoo banner to download Explorer 8 "specifically designed for Yahoo'clients". I didn't as I knew from your magazine that it is still in Beta 2 format.
Should I have downloaded it or better stay clear until windows automatic update does the necessary in due course?
Any thought?

IE8 is no longer in Beta mode. The full release came out a little while ago and Microsoft did say at the time that they would role it out with automatic updates. However, if you would rather have it now, get it from here for Vista or here for XP.

Thank you very much for the info, are using it? Have you found any glitches? I am on XP. dl

I have installed it but only use it occasionally as I reckon Firefox is still way ahead in terms of user control. The add-ons available in IE are very limited and I see a lot you have to pay for. FF is adjustable to suit my needs, far more so than IE. For example, I cannot find an AdBlocker for IE8 like the one in Firefox.
As far as I am aware IE8 is stable enough but it's gone a long way to go before I would use it in any real sense.

I am glad you have been honest! In fact I have been using Chrome for a while and whilst there are still some bits missing such as print preview etc, I find it a lot faster and it suits me. I think I'll wait for the automatic download and see Thanks again dl
