myasanet Homepage
I just wanted to let you know of a free service called myasanet, created by me at my personal site. It's perfect for all internet users, especially those with no knowledge of HTML or how to create webpages and allows you to create a custom homepage of links and email contacts quickly and easily. You can then point your browser's default page to your new homepage instead of having your ISPs homepage, which you probably don't use that much anyway.
Regards, Asa

Can you tell us where the Privacy Policy is because I can't find one. I've looked at your Site Map, but still can't find one.
There should be a Privacy Policy because you are asking people to submit their name and email address. People need to know exactly how this information is going to be used.

Neat trim site, attractive colour scheme and layout, and fast loading on dialup. However I agree with Jonny about the Privacy Policy, it needs to be up front.
I also noticed something else important which is missing - an About Us page. Since you are asking for people to entrust personal data with you (email address could be their ISP which allows tracing), I for one would back off because "you" are so anonymous.
I also have a question about the homepage service - you ask for location saying it is "Required to ensure appropriate search engines are listed". How can you do that? I for example am located in a country, but use only one search engine which bears no relation to my location.
I checked your sample page, found search engines I wouldn't let near my computer. Might be an idea to let the user build their own selection as part of the customisation? Otherwise you are headed toward the direction of the ISP homepage which sets forced content.
Also, in the knowledgebase you seem to pay much time to PHP, MySQL etc, when perhaps the HTML basics should be a priority rather than more advanced skills, so new users can at least get up some kind of page quickly?

Thanks for the comments. The privacy policy was a mistake, it was there until the recent relaunch and has now been listed on the Site Map as well as on the footer of each page and the registration page.
The only personal information the user now needs to supply is an email address. As I have no right, I personally wouldn't be allowed to do any tracing so I'm not sure I understand where that comes in. Any ISP could do a check on a member's email address and link it to personal information they have on file but the same can be said for Hotmail - it all depends on whatever you specify in the first place.
I understand the location prompt can be a bit confusing and have changed it so it is no longer mandatory. The idea of it was say you're a UK visitor, you can visit your control panel and one of the search engines listed would be "eBay UK" which obviously would be irrelevant to someone in Australia.
"Might be an idea to let the user build their own selection as part of the customisation?" That's exactly what they do. They have a list in their control panel which they can tick and untick as much as they like.
"HTML basics should be a priority rather than more advanced skills, so new users can at least get up some kind of page quickly?" I think you confuse what it does. The knowledge base (on the asanet section) is just tips and tricks for more power users (there's so many novice tutorials on the web). The myasanet service purposely takes away the need for the user to know anything about HTML/stylesheets/hosting/script languages etc.. and simply uses a control panel with text boxes and tick boxes to create their homepage within a set template design.
It's hard to set up an About Us page when it's just my personal site - I have an issue with privacy too and so wouldn't put up too much private information just to try and appease visitors who only need to specify an email address.
I think a page showing some screenshots of what a registered member sees is probably a good idea.
