erasing hard disk without erasing programms
      #412326 - Sat Nov 08 2008 04:01 PM

I want to gift my windows 98 home computer and I want to clear the hard disk of any personal details such as files, internet passwords etc. but I don't want to erase the various loaded programs and all the Microsoft uptades for win 98 and works 2000. Is there a way to do it?

I have used "eraser" for all the files in documents but checking the hard disk with "recuva" there are a lot of files still legible and recoverable that could be read by others.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you
dl

I'm afraid it's not going to be possible.

Your only option will be to format the hdd and reinstall windows or another operating system
