Hello everyone, I am thinking about mobile broadband and I hope someone will help me decide which one to go for three or vodafone ,I know vodafone is faster and more expensive.I ive in Knutsford and I should get H S D P A according to both of these providers,so does anyone in or close to this area have one of these dongles and can help me decide thanks.
Mobile broadband has progressed very quickly and to a great extent since I last used it the form of 3g Data cards.
However, if you intend to use 'Mobile Broadband' from a static position such as your own home, I personnally would advise against it.
The disadvantages of going 'Mobile' from home is that you will never achieve the download speeds of a fixed line either cable or telephone at this moment in time. And remember your using a mobile phone network to send and receive so you may have bad reception at times. Also mobile broadband packages generally have quite restrictive download limits compared to conventional cousins and you'll be penalised financially very heavily for going over your quota.
You are quite right Fusion - as always - I have Vodafone and use it regularly when out and about. It works reliably and well. The minus points are that it takes an age to 'boot up' and the broadband is slow. Certainly not a substitute for one's home based landline or cable.
I consider it good value though at £15 a month - as against all those 'paid for' Wi-Fi hot-spots at around £5 per hour usually.
