Zimbra Email Desktop. How good Composing? Review and some Tips
      #402445 - Thu Aug 07 2008 02:56 AM

I know its a Beta, but I seriously think Gmails(Googlemail) own Email Composing Tools are going to be run rather close on the Next roundup of Email reviews... And this is a cross platform program, feeding to and from Gmail so complementary wise. It is an Ideal Back up.
Controls Are HTML. or Plain text Format (click the Blue"Options" Button to change over. NOT the Options Tab!) And once you get underway. You'll see many Popular Features that are on other programmes. From Gmail there is the Timed auto save (which produces a green Popup every 5 minutes) and It auto spell-checks too .From Yahoo. The Briefcase feature .And you can store files and Images here. Can even Produce a Cell Table in the box (is that MS Outlook?) No use to me. Professionals will have a use for that.

Hyperlinks...It is a Trick to get them "alive" They are sent out inactive unless you do this. Some forums use this for Highlighting items in replies, if you are unfamiliar...also extends to the Block letters Underlining and Italicising on this Program

Method :
So you typed the link in and next, Just Highlight it
Next stage ,Look along the tool bar to the Far right .The 2nd Item In is a "Green Globe icon" If you Hover the Mouse pointer over it ,says "Insert Link"
Click it, window opens, there is your Link in the Top "Link text" box but to make it " live" copy it into the bottom "Link target" Box Press OK to Finish
Can do the same as in this forum Highlight text then insert a Link
With practice you can do this in seconds

Only thing I cannot do(bug perhaps?) is to insert a File or Picture Direct into the mailbox.Goes OK as an attachment and goes into the Briefcase

But apart from that, I think there is a Lot of Potential here. They sort that issue out on the next update
I think a Lot of people are going to like this (even with that unresolved)

Another feature the Contact list.Looks well made(easy to use. And like the AOL Favourites. You can fill a file list, save a file, Import and Export it......as CSV files
So Many Goodies!

I can't be expected to tell you Everything ...Look for yourself!

PS And I have the Yahoo Mail account Login Issue sorted (Have posted it in Hints and Tips) with a link back to here
