x-fire gone bust? server disappeared!
      #401109 - Tue Jul 22 2008 10:43 PM

Please help :0(

I have been building a site for a friend and have dont for a year. We registered the domain name and bought the webspace from a company called "X-Fire Design"

Yesterday, the site was gone. I couldn't connect via ftp, control panel, couldn't get on x-fires sites at all, their phone number doesn't work and an email I sent came back as a wrong address... even though it was sent via "reply" to an email they sent me a while ago!

It is as if the company have disappeared!

Is there any way of checking this out?

ALSO is there any way of finding out what company they registered the domain with so we dont have to change the domain name?

I am having trouble finding who the domain is registered with!

Thanks in advance for any help!!

G'day Baz94.

If you have paid for the domain name and have a certificate from nominet indicating your ownership then contact nominet and it will get sorted.
If it was provided free by the hosting site then you have lost it, expect an e-mail offering it back at a reasonably high price.

Again, thanks for the reply.

I decided to go with another name (Just changed org to .co.uk) and went with 1and 1 as I have had webspace with them for a few years and found them very good.

X-Fire on the other hand......
Is there any way of seeing if they have shut up shop? I dare say there are going to be many unhappy people.

G'day Baz94.

I see your new domain name. Registered in your name this time.

They might just have a tech problem. We lost all our underground cables here a few weeks back when they got accidently broken when groundworkers were laying a new HT power line.

Yeah I registered it in my name so I get all the appropriate info.
Last time, it was started by someone who left and they asked me to take over but unfortunately, there was a lot of info missing.
Like who the domain was registered with etc.

This way I have full control and know exactly what is where :0)

Must be more than a tech problem. Even the email I sent came back as an unrecognised email address, even though it was sent via a reply to the last mail I got from him. Plus the phone number isn't recognised either so I think there must be something more to it.
