This is my first time posting so apologies if I don't make much sense....
Is it possible to put the free AVG 8.0 download onto a CD which I can then run on another computer to install it?
My mother's computer is having numerous problems with the free AVG 8.0 - it refuses to update certain sections (anti-virus, anti-spyware and resident shield)and then when it does update it insists on requesting a restart continually.
I've been advised it's probably best to uninstall and then reinstall it. However, her computer connects to the internet via dial-up. And even using a download manager (LeechGet) it takes hours to install AVG. SO if I can avoid this I would rather do so!
I thought it might work to put AVG onto CD using my broadband connection and then run it on hers to install it. Would that work? If so, can someone give me a clue how to get the AVG download onto the CD in the first place? I've tried but it initially gave me a message to say I was selecting an invalid drive when I tried to save it to CD. Now I have finally persuaded it to save to CD if I try to open the file it says it is corrupt.
Please can anyone help? Both computers run on Windows XP if that helps.
It's perfectly possible to do what you want. Download AVG 8.0 from the AVG server (second link on the link below). Make sure you're saving the download file to the correct drive, and you're ready for off. Get rid of the corrupt file - clearly something didn't go right there. Where did you download it from? Maybe try a fresh CD too.
