Logitech webcam problem with VISTA
      #400797 - Sat Jul 19 2008 09:34 AM

My webcam has been working in VISTA successfully for over a year. I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled drivers from logitech website. Message said satisfactory installation but no prompt to connect camera. When I click PROGRAMS/LOGITECH MESSENGER it takes me to to "notifications" box then nothing at all (reverts back to desktop). I have tried three times uninstalling and reinstalling but without success. Logitech now tell me it won't work with Vista (even though it has been). Help please.

What model webcam is it? I have a Logitech Fusion and having just installed Skype on a new Vista PC and dowmnloaded the Vista software and drivers from the Logitech website, I cannot get Skype to work with it or indeed another webcam I use on my laptop.
I have put a plea for help into Skype and Logitech and will post any reply I receive.
Not a great start to my Vista experience!

My Logitech Messenger webcam has been working fine on Vista for one year. I reformatted hard drive and now Logitech say that it can't work on Vista at all. I suspect that this is planned obsolescence on their part. They must have removed the Vista download to get you to buy another one. But if I am right I certainly would not buy from them again.

That was my suspicion too but my other webcam won't work either but that was a cheapie from PC World so perhaps I need one made specifically for Windows. I'm waiting for Skype's response to my problem before I do anytthing else though.

I have three PCs with the following OS.
XP home
Vista home premium
Vista Ultimate,and my Logitech
webcam works on all three.I used the
driver which came with the webcam.Although
when I loaded the driver on Vista,I had a notice
come up telling me it would not work, but as I say
it works fine on all three systems.
PS
The webcam is the Logitech Messenger.
