AVG 8

I recently upgraded to AVG 8 and everytime I switch my computer on an AVG warning box appears with the message "AVG has been updated and needs a restart".

I keep restarting but the same thing appears.

I also uninstalled it and reinstalled and updated and the same thing appears. Any ideas anyone?

If you haven't done so already try this.

Download a new installation file from... here. Run the file and choose the repair option. Complete the installation and run an update.

Thanks. I took your advice and tried the repair option.

All didn't go well though and the following message appeared:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgwdsvc.exe: stopping service....
Error 0x8007041d

Argh.

You didn't say which method you used to uninstall , so if it wasn't this way try this : run the same exe file that you tried the repair option with and choose the uninstall option instead. If all goes well download a fresh copy and try a new install.
