Hi all,is their a difference between a splitter and a filter?(hope i am in the right place) if not i cannot understand why it should have a different name.thanks in advance.

they are both the same thing, well as long as your not talking one from a few years ago.
a brief explanation: a filter splits the signal into its "forms" (or wavelengths/frequencies). without being to technical a phone line has limited capability, normally this is just for the phone itself, but when a "adsl" connection is required extra frequency/bandwidth is required. this is added at a much higher part of the range the line can take, a filter will split the two signals from your one phoneline and "clean" the noise. so you end up with one rj45 and one rj11 output (i think those are the right numbers)
