wonder if anyone has solution for this continual problem. when I start up my computer and eventually get to the log-in screen I find that it freezes and am unable to click on the log-in. The mouse cannot move and so have to completely switch off the computer and start all over again. Sometimes have to switch off and on 5 times before finally being able to log on. thought it might have been the mouse itself so used the disability option on the control panel to enable the number keys on keyboard to act as the mouse but this doesnt work when frozen so must be computer. have an Iqon computer and windows xp system. have been close to throwing the whole thing out the window on a number of occasions so any help would be much appreciated.......

When you do manage to log onto your machine try un installing the mouse and keyboard drivers and then re installing them this might work.

This could work. Something sounds funny. Did this problem start suddenly or has it gradually gotten worse? My friends always hear me complaining and they ask the same thing and always tell me to do a Disk Cleanup followed by a defrag and when I do actually listen, I am always amazed how much performance I was missing out on. Windows needs this regular housekeeping.

thanks to both. have uninstalled then installed the keyboard drivers and will see how it goes. has gradually gotten worse over past year but sometimes there is no problem at all then next time am there for half an hour switching on and off. tend to know now when its going to freeze as the number lock light goes off and stays off just as you get to the log in page suggesting that it is a keyboard problem. if theres no problem the lights stay on... thanks again and if still have probs will get back to you.
