I can't shop online with Tesco using Firefox 2 or 3. I can sign in, but pages won't load, or some tabs like 'Food & Drink' produce strange script or an .ASPX file, as if they have to be downloaded. Some tabs work fine. I have disabled my add-ons one by one, including Adlock Plus (and Filterset G), NoScript and Flashblock, but nothing works. This problem occurred in Windows XP and now Vista. My wife and I now use Maxthon 2 or Opera where there are no such problems. I have always liked Firefox and am reluctant to junk it. I know it's only a browser, but I'd like to know what the hell's going on, especially as everyone's banging on about what an improvement version 3 is.

Have you tried running Firefox in 'Safe Mode'? Start, Programs, Mozilla Firefox, Firefox Safe Mode. That disables most add-ons and possible errors in your profile. If that works we'll go to the next stage.

Thanks for your reply. Just tried safe mode; if anything, the problem is of the same nature, but worse. If I can save my bookmarks (?), I'm tempted to reinstal Firefox to see what happens.

I haven't got a Tesco shopping account, so can't put anything to the test. I don't think reinstalling will solve the problem but it can always be tried. Try a new Profile first. No need to remove the old one, just create an additional one for experimental purposes. It can always be deleted again if it doesn't help (be careful not to remove the one in current everyday use). If that doesn't help, it is likely to be an incompatibility issue and perhaps not much can be done ..apart from informing Tesco.

Further thought. I know you can use the site with other browsers but does Firefox have full permissions in the firewall? Any scripts or pop-ups blocked anywhere either within the firewall or browser. Something to look into in the interest of thoroughness.

Just to let you know that I have no problems with the Tesco website using Firefox 3 - unfortunately I have no idea as to what is causing your problem.
To save your bookmarks, go to the Bookmarks menu and choose "Organise Bookmarks". There is an "Import and Backup" button at the top of the screen.
