having paid for and downloaded avg 8 can someone please tell what other safeguards i need, at present i have spybot, adaware, registry repair pro and ccleaner, do i need them all or should i get rid of some

The current version of Spybot S&D conflicts with AVG 8, so I'd certainly be removing that, before installing AVG. Also, if you've used AVG 7.5, you MUST uninstall it completely, before installing AVG 8, as this can also cause problems. Be aware too, that if you have any kind of immunising shield set up in your antispyware, then unimmunise it before running AVG, as AVG may detect that as being spyware, and list literally thousands of false positives!
As for as getting rid of any of your other software, I'm not aware of any conflicts with those programs (although as you have the paid-for version, you can always ask AVG themselves if you're not sure) and as you're only running one spyware program and a couple of registry cleaners, you should be fine. You may also wish to consider Spyware Terminator or Superantispyware, as replacement spyware programs for Spybot S&D, although AVG 8's built in anti spyware, and Adaware should offer a reasonable level of protection.

thanks for your advice, i have already installed avg 8 and still have spybot running would it be okay for me to uninstall spybot now, i have just run spybot and it found 3 problems that i have deleted
