zlib.dll - how do you instal it?
      #399471 - Sat Jul 05 2008 11:35 AM

Secunia flagged up zlib.dll, so I downloaded a zipped file with the latest version (1.2.3) and unzipped it with Izarc. The file is in my downloads, but I have no idea what to do next. A readme file mentions typing stuff in somewhere, but it might as well be written in Venusian. Can anyone, even Mr. Spock, tell this green user what to do?

Thanks,

Rik (forgive me if this is not posted in the best section for it)

The read me files says:

Use WinZip to extract the file to your windows\system directory.

Many thanks. I downloaded winzip. Secunia flagged up zlib in Sana security and Malwarebytes. Should I extract the zlib update to each of those locations? I did try the windows/system location - after setting a restore point - but I've rebooted and nothing has changed. I have now lost Sana from my system tray, but it is still protecting my system.

There was no real need to download and use Winzip as you already have the means to unzip the file in question with Izarc.

The 'read me notes' say extract to the Windows/System folder. If this makes no difference after a reboot, perhaps Secunia is telling you that it is in fact a 'malicious' file and you should be very wary of it!

The zlib.dll will be updated in the next release of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which will address this issue.
I too have been flagged by Secunia PSI at the following locations.
C:\Program Files\RogueRemover FREE
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Thanks Ray. Only just got a 100% scan result today from Secunia re: two zlib issues, one being the Malwarebytes issue. Good-oh.
