my gadgets have gone missing

My gadgets have gone from the Gadget Gallery. All I have left is three on the sidebar but the ones in the gallery have gone. I have tried pressing the "Restore gadgets installed with windows" button but it is greyed out and doesn't work. I get a quick glimpse of them when I click the + sign at the top of the sidebar, then they vanish. Has anybody got any ideas as to how I can restore them?

Sometimes this works. Go to the Windows Orb (Start), type CMD and press Enter.
Now type (or copy + paste) each of the three commands below and press Enter after each. The capitals are for clarity only.

REGSVR32 SCRRUN.DLL
REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL
REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL

Restart the computer.

Thanks for your help but I get an error message after each time I press enter. Any more ideas?

Further to the above --- I have restored to the middle of June and all seems to be working........thanks for your help.

Well done!

The reason you received the error message is because I foolishly said CMD when I should have said RUN in my post on Wednesday.
