I'm having a problem with trying to look at files.
Using a PC I can access files on my laptop but trying to access the PC from the laptop I get the following message. \\family is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. Can anyone help? Thanks

You haven’t said which machine is Vista, which is XP and which is wired/wireless, so I’ll give you a few things to check:
If the folders have been properly identified as shared, on their respective machines, the XP folders should have a little hand under the icon and the Vista folders have two little people under the icon.
ON A VISTA MACHINE Make sure in Control Panel > Classic View > Network and Sharing Center you have Network Discovery, File Sharing and Public Folder Sharing set to ‘On’ and, if you‘re not using passwords set Password Protected Sharing to ‘Off’, unless you want to set up identical usernames and passwords on all computers in your network. If you have it on, you will be asked for a username and password when you try to access a Vista computer from an XP computer.
ON AN XP MACHINE In XP Professional you may have to turn off Simple File Sharing.
Install the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder on the XP machine http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;displaylang=en
