Sadly I've had to put Vista back on my Tosh Equium laptop (because my XP Pro crashed and seems to have trashed that HD!) My son is a great video watcher but on some sites it says that I need the latest Flash Player. Following the links allows me to install the installer from Adobe - and it says that the player has been successfully installed. But it hasn't! No vids - just says I need the latest Player! I can't find it under Programmes but under the Active X add-ons Flash is shown as enabled (flash9f.ocx). What's going on?

Jim , I'd try running through...this list. There is an article there on "a damaged windows registry" / "incorrect permissions in the registry" , that describes exactly the problem you're having.
If it isn't that then hopefully one of the other fixes on the list will do the business for you.
