Of course restricting trading so you HAVE to use the payment type owned by the site you are selling on is not restrictive..............Got to love eBay!

I suppose the answer could be that if you don't like the laws of the countries in which you operate, close your shop and go somewhere else to do your trading. But then, of course, they wouldn't make any money out of all those people selling stolen goods.

There is a weird issue going on with eBay in Australia at the moment. When you come to list and choose Custom Locations (as you should as Europe is say cheaper than North America to send to) Australia is greyed out and it says something about can't list in Aus if you don't offer PayPal.

This is rubbish as you HAVE to offer PayPal.

Rumour mill: It is rumoured that several auction sites down under have (or are close to) surpassing eBay and eBay may be forced to pull out following the seller's down there revolting at the changes they have enforced.

Done a Google and found this:

Potential WebUser story here? Could this test case filter worldwide?

This, I like. Well done the Auusies.

PayPal is a very unprofessional company. Staff are either ill-trained or just don't care. Emails are answered days later (if at all) and the responses often have little or nothing to do with the question. PayPal does not accept Australia Post's telephone tracking system for Express Post and considers items "not shipped" that are posted this way because PayPal finds it personally inconvenient not to have everything trackable online. PayPal clears payments as "Okay to Ship", then takes the payments back from the seller after shipment and blames customers for its own accounting errors when the customer is not even aware there is a problem with payment. Thanks to PayPal's insecure email system, I've had dozens of "phishing" emails and viruses sent to me and heard dozens of horror stories of account and credit card details being used by scammers after innocent customers have provided these details to PayPal. It is not a bank and refuses to subscribe to the EFT Code. PayPal is possibly the worst and least secure choice of any payment method and has created many more problems for sellers and customers than it helps. We are forced to use PayPal because eBAY owns it, but eBAY really bought a dog company and forcing everyone to use it is nothing more than a money grab. Shame on eBAY and PayPal both. Thank goodness we live in a country where democracy still works and people still have a choice.

PayPal is effectively an extra way for eBay to get more fees from sellers. I think in another thread I have mentioned they are introducing fee free transactions - providing payment is made from a cash balance in PayPal or via a bank account.

I suspect it can only be time before PayPal and eBay are one and you do everything with one provider. Then they will close the doors on other payments and THEN they will have every seller by the short and curlies..................
