I have Windows Vista and the Norton Anti Virus program I got when I purchased this PC has ran out. I have uninstalled it and I need to find a replacement.
Can anyone recommend one please?
I'd like to know of any free ones but also licensed ones as well.
Many thanks Jo

I checked out the following site before purchasing CA antivirus:
http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
There are other reviews of course. I had been using Avast! and prior to that AVG, but they both had faults, flagging harmless things up as threats.
-------------------- CA Anti-virus 2008 - Comodo Firewall - Sana Security - Maxthon and Opera browsers - Thunderbird email - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - WinPatrol - Glary Utilities - Revo Uninstaller - Secunia PSI

hi jodenice i have avg8 free it serves me well and i think this upgrade is better and more user friendly as well as being potent, it auto up dates daily at a time set be you, i use it every time i download any thing by not opening the download but saving it to a "saved file" folder i made in my docs then when the download finishes i click on it, open the "file" from the drop down list i choose "scan with avg" this opens a shell scan, all this takes seconds but saves hours of misery,i also run spybot search & destroy which is free, people say that you should not run two securities together but i have run these two for years with no problems at all one is primarily anti virus and the other a spybot and malware catcher, i wont be changing either, dont forget to make sure that your windows firewall is switched on, sorry for being long winded flavius

hi also take a look at **FREE PROTECTION FOR YOUR COMPUTER** most people opt for Avast or AVG.8(free)for antivirus & comodo or zonealarm for firewall but only run one of each

IMHO The best anti virus at the minute is NOD32 you'll have to buy it though, I use it, it updates about 6-7 times a day which is all done automatically.

Been using NOD32 for about 3 years now and you cannot fault it, the best thing they did this year was release their smart security suite.
I'd really recommend it.

I'm running ESET Smart Security which is NOD32 with firewall included and I can vouch for it's antivirus capabilities. Second to none plus multiple daily updates.
