Trojan Virus Help
      #398140 - Fri Jun 20 2008 07:40 PM

Hi there,

I have a virus on my laptop, think I got it from a file that i downloaded from utorrent. AVG picked it upp but didn't delete it. I have loaded Kaspersky on and this "seems" to delete it but i'm not convinced. One of the scans i ran took 22 hours and another today took 10 hours. When i open internet explorer and click on a link in google, it transfers me to a totally different website (mostly porn or stupid boredom sites!) My internet is also running extremely slow because of this. I have also tried to rid the laptop of this spyware with adaware and a squared free programs.

My laptop is a compaq presario running windows Xp. Kaspersky finds various programs listed as trojan.win32.monder.gen and .xp and .b and also trojan-downloader.win32.tiny.bpj. I cant seem to find any info about these on the web or how to delete them.

I'm currently backing up all my files as I know I may end up having to do a full remaster of windows, though i would like it not to get to that stage!

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

ty

gill , please go to the... hijackthis...forum and read... TheFatControllerR's ...post for instructions on how to post a log. If you then post your log in that forum , along with a brief description of you problem , a malware expert will come along and help you out. Please be patient as they do get overrun at times.

unless you are getting a message from your anti virus, something like :-

Selected object is located inside the archive and cannot be healed;
access is denied;

DO NOT disable system restore, an infected restore point is better than none should something go drastically wrong.
