I posted recently how eBay were clamping down on Misleading or Discouraging Payments. It's all here:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html
This is all really to stop sellers putting PayPal as an option because you now have to, THEN putting something in the listing to encourage payment by another method.
Little did I know HOW Big Brother they would be getting. First warning was in my Seller Dashboard where it announced I was failing on policy with TWO breaches. Then about an hour later nine listings were removed. Why those nine and not the other three hundred odd, we will probably never know. (But it does seem relevant that when you report someone's listings 10 is the maximum you can report so I feel I was 'hit' by a niggly buyer).
It still left no answers, though. I have followed eBay rules and terms intensely recently. Always offered PayPal, changed to 14 return policy for businesses etc.
Anyway, it turns out in my listings I put this:
"If you require an item quickly, then use cleared PayPal (not eCheque) or send a Postal Order via First Class Mail (but allow for any post delays)."
For those not familiar with eCheque it is the default option in PayPal when you have no money in the account and your bank and credit card are either no registered or out of date. They take TEN working days to clear - so surely you can see I was making a statement of fact.
The wording eBay took offence to is "PayPal (not eCheque)".
I now face two months with these 'offences' logged on my account. Spent last night going through almost 300 listings to change that one phrase to 'If you require an item quickly, then use cleared PayPal.'
Tip to all is WATCH your wording in listings.
Interestingly I was refunded ALL the listing fees, so there was some benefit...............

Perhaps a simple statement would suffice without the preamble. Something like -
'PayPal offer an eCheque option which we are happy to accept. These will take 10 days to clear before your goods are despatched.'
Or perhaps a link to the rule that gives that advice.

Good line, might nick it!
However I have been talking with eBay today and to be honest almost ANY statement you make about a payment method cannot contain anything that might be construed as negative. I like yours, but they might say you are pointing out a negative to it and are trying to dissuade the buyer from using that method.
Easy method with eCheques is log into Preferences on PayPal and block them!

In that case 'If you are unable to use a normal PayPal transaction then ......' at the front and then 'Please click on this link for a summary of the rules relating to the use of eCheques' If the buyer complains that it's taken 10 days to get his goods, refer him to the rules.

The truth is, I think eBay will take ANY wording about PayPal and study it intensely from now on. By that I mean your own wording that you put in your listing.
It's such a minefield, but over the last week I am apparently not the only one to suddenly find a 'clean' Seller Dashboard now has 'FAILING' emblazoned on one section. Two months before it is clear.
Out of curiousity: You know how you can insert the HTML code for a photo on, say, Photobucket into HTML on eBay, does anyone know a way of doing same with a Word page or two (the Terms & Conditions for example).
That way I figure I can alter ONE document and have it relevant for all listings.

Rather that linking to a Word document, print it out, scan it in as a JPG and then put that into Photobucket. It's now just another picture which you can link to. When scanning set the resolution to around 200dpi and scan in grey scale.

I had tried a freebie demo online that converted a Word Doc to a JPeg but that sounds easier (and doesn't have the BUY NOW watermark!).
Thanks Greysts, will give that a go. Might save me an evening if eBay clamp down hard again!
As a follow up, I did ask them to review the issue, but I think I have either been reported by a competitor or an eCheque paying buyer, or eBay are using some sort of 'Bot' to scour listings. They will not budge. Typical of eBay in this instance, so I hope others take care when using their own 'Terms and Conditions' in listings.
