I give 5 days, but I always state on the auction page, that if not paid for by the end of that period, it WILL go be re-auctioned, and then block that particular user from bidding.

andyref you will be better replying to your posts on here instead of sending a private message as it gives the other webusers a chance to read the post and add to the thread ...........so i will copy & paste the private message you sent to me so others can add to your ebay problem and hope the mods on the forum understand you are new to the site

"Thanks for the reply about how long should i give people to payon ebay .

We give buyers three days to pay by PayPal or email us to say they are sending payment (Chq or Postal order). After Seven Days (regardless) I start an Unpaid Item Dispute - it's in the drop down menu next to the sale. You can usually only do this after 7 days anyway.

I do it as it generally sorts out the payers from the non payers.

After eight days you can close it, give them an Unpaid Strike and get your fee back. If they respond within the eight days you get the option to close three ways - they have paid, you have agreed not to go ahead, you still feel like being nasty and give them a Strike!

Invoice straight after purchase. Send a reminder if no answer within 24/48 hours and then a polite email via Contact Member to advise payment is due. If they ignore all that, they deserve a strike.

Be careful applying for contact information as it automatically notifies the buyer and this can sometimes not go down well (they also get ALL your details including phone number even if you only normally give that to eBay).

No point having a slanging match. If after the Unpaid Item dispute is over you have your selling fee back, just relist or offer to the person who was outbid maybe.

Like Put says, though, add to your blocked list as well. At the end of the UPI you get this option.

Man, 16 days! Good job Baz isn't posting on here much, he would have gone round to do the Baz Slap!

Non payers can be sooooooo annoying. I have one at the moment who bought THEN emailed to say it was bought by someone using his eBay account (with permission)who would not have the money until Thursday THEN would be sending a Postal Order.

Last Thursday was just inside my three day limit, BUT as they emailed me to advise I was happy to wait. Seven days on (this Tuesday) I slapped it on Unpaid. Why? Well, today is Thursday and STILL nothing. Clearly forgot or can't be bothered and all for a £4.99 item.

Sellers can no longer leave neutral or negative but we still have the Unpaid Item tool. Use it.

Bear in mind you will have to start the process, wait about eight days then attempt to close the dispute (if they have not come back). If you get one option (You are both happy........) and the other two greyed out then try again later.

If you start the dispute at 7pm you can usually close it at 7.01pm AFTER the number of days has elapsed. Try at 6.59pm and it will only give you the first option.

It sounds mean, but PLEASE issue an Unpaid Strike. Some sellers filter buyers by how many of these they have had and it actually physically stops them messing someone else around.
