Hi,
I have been trying to get my Pc and my wifes laptop to connect so we canget at files on each others PCs and she can print from her laptop on to the printer connected to my PC.
I have had a look on line and the majority of walkthroughs to set it up are either overly long winded and/or complex or just dont make sense.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks, we connect via WiFi using a Belkin wireless router, I amnot sure the type as I cannot find the paperwork and it does not say on it Both PCs can connect to the internet at the same time with no problems I just cant get them to recognise the other is there to share!!
Thanks

To find out whgich model router you have, in the internet explorer address bar, type in 192.168.2.1 and press enter
you should see a screen like this
The circled bit is the model name of your router
However, all this is irrelevant as it is instructions for networking vista and a.n. other operating system, you don't say what, it may help us help you a bit more if you could tell us what your PC has installed in terms of version of windows

Thanks for the help.
I followed the article but they do not seem to recognise each other fully.
The desktop can see the laptop but not access it and the laptop does not even see the desktop except as a media device!!

Have you tried just temporarily disabling the firewalls on both machines?

Hi,
Ok firewalls disabled, they kind of see each other now.
We can access each others media libraries but the laptop does not see my PC other than that and my pc sees the laptop but when I double click it it says:
Windows cannot access \\*computer name*
clicking on details brings up "error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found"
Clicking on diagnose it chugs for a bit then says cannot communicate with *computer name* *IP*
There is a folder on each for sharing and the setting for both are the same
