I was recently typing document which involved entering fractions. The common ones like 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 etc. came out fine. Word changed them to a fraction in the document. However, anything different such as 'eighths' weren't changed as the more common fractions were. In the document, they remained as 1/8, 3/8 etc. just as you would type them on the keyboard and didn't get converted. I checked the relevant menu in Word and it was set to display fractions, so I'm just wondering if I'm missing anything or is it just the way that Word is set up?

You can use the Insert -> Symbol -> Sub Set -> Scroll to 'Number Forms' for a choice of fractions.
Alternatively, you can, whilst in a Document, use shortcut keys, eg Control + Shift + + (plus) for Superscript (upper part of fraction) and Control + + (plus) for subscript (lower part of fraction).
For press the Ctrl + Shift ++, then your upper fraction (24). Press the Ctrl + Shift ++ again to return to the 'normal' cursor. Press the forward slash key. Press the Ctrl + + then your lower fraction (25) Press the Ctrl + + again to return to normal.
Hope that makes sense. It probably does look different to using the 'Insert -> Symbol' method.

Thanks for the prompt reply. The first method works fine but I can't seem to get the fractions in the second method to look like the ones in the first method. Should they, is there always going to be slight differnce?
