I have just gone wireless with the above router and on asking about internet speeds I got a request to make sure my router settings are correct as follows.

Authentication: CHAP
Encapsulation: PPPoATM - VC-MUX / VC Based
Modulation : Multimode / AutoModulation (G.DMT)
MultiPlexing: VPI=0 VCI=38
QoS: UBR
MTU: 1458

Any advice on what the hell they are on about and where I check these settings would be welcomed!!

The Desktop is linked using firewire connecion

Thanks

G'day pgt67.

A good start would be to read the set up manual that came with the router.
The figures you gave are standard as you will find out.
PPPoATM usually as PPAoA1 standard or with multiple LAN cross domain names.
VPI=0 VCI=38 factory router setting
QoS: UBR factory router setting
MTU: 1458 can be as high as 1500
