Audio not working, Any Ideas?
      #397020 - Wed Jun 11 2008 01:54 PM

Suddenly my PC has decided not to let me listen to anything.
I have checked the hardware and there is a question mark on "multimedia audio controller".

Can anyone shed some light on what needs to be done to rectify the problem?

Thanks

The driver should be on the disc that came
with the motherboard,or you could download it from
the makers website.

Sadly I bought my IQON PC from Tesco where every little helps except when you need a recovery disc, it seems.

I have looked at the device manager again and it tells me that there is no audio device.
I am miffed at this nightmare.

This could be hard work. Let's see if we can identify the device. Go to this page and install the free version of SIW. Run it and see what it tells us about your multimedia devices.

Run SIW and look at the left hand column. Click the + sign next Hardware then the + against Devices and finally the + against Sound, Video and Game Controllers. You should see something like 'Audo Device' perhaps with a number against it. Click on that and see if you get a manufacturers name on the right hand side.

Unimodem Full Duplex Audio Device seems to be the closest match.

That doesn't sound like the right thing. However, I've found two web sites that profess to have the drivers you are looking for. Have a look at this or this. Apparently Iqon's were made by Philips. The Everex site is reckoned to have any driver you need.

Excellent. Wish I'd known it was Realtek, it would have made it a lot easier to find.
