Un-identified Battery?
      #396943 - Tue Jun 10 2008 08:22 PM

Hello,

I have received the following message on my LT which is running Vista:

Warning: The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge the battery.

Can anyone explain why I have received this message and what I can do about it?

Thanks

Tiatadi

Hi Iain,

Apologies for delay in answering your questions

My laptop is a year old (Purchased a year ago). Could it be older? How do I find out the age of the battery?

Yes, it's before boot.

Regards

Tiatadi

Ok then we are looking at a BIOS issue. can you tell me what version of the BIOS you are running?

Restart your laptop and press the F2, Del key or F10 or which ever key it is you need to press to enter BIOS and determine which version of the BIOS you are running.

I have read that returning the BIOS to its original can solve the problem, however, if your BIOS version is not v.2.6.1, A14 or v.2.6.2, A15 you should download and follow the instructions on this page

If the BIOS is one of the above versions, then come back and report which version you have

For some reason, I am no longer receiving the message and my battery is charging????

So, all I can say is thanks for your help.
