I'm moving to the US for a while and would like to share my experiences with friends and family back in the UK. I'm not particularly web-savvy, could anyone recommend the best type of software for me to use? I'd like to do a diary entry, upload photos (to keep/store maybe?) and the odd video. I'm assuming blog software would be suitable, but would that let me put lots of photos and some videos up (I'm assuming bandwidth limitations) or would I only be able to store a few? Also, would I be able to use my PC in the US (I need a converter?) or should I just buy a new one and start again? I was thinking of putting all my software, photos and videos on an external drive - partly for backup purposes and partly for transfer to the US - don't know if this is practical. Thanks for your help. Kath

No point in wasting your money, just use blogspot, facebook, myspace or bebo or something like that. Plenty of free ones to choose from. For videos, use youtube and link or embed them in your blog. With the cost of image hosting falling all the time, you might want to put them on flickr or other such site cost $24 (£12), though there are free alternatives
All of it is web based, so no need for software
Your PC may have a simple switch at the back to change from the 240V to the 110V that the US uses, but to be honest you might be better off just buying one over there, you can get basic systems for less than $300 (£150)
